Lights show "Offline" in WLED when they were previously working

If your lights were previously working fine, but now show as "Offline" inside the WLED app the IP address of the controller probably changed. This will happen if the controller lost power or a decent amount of time has passed. You can prevent this from happening in the future by setting up a DHCP IP reservation for your WLED controller inside your home Wi-Fi router settings.

Temporary Fix - Discover Lights
  1. Go into the WLED App
  2. Delete the controller that shows as "offline"
  3. Tap the + sign in the top right.
  4. Tap "Discover lights..."
This will rediscover your lights with the controller's new IP address. You may need to do this every time the controller box loses power unless you reserve an IP in your router settings.

Permanent Fix - Set up DHCP IP Reservation
There are thousands of different routers, so these instructions will be very generalized. Make sure you discovered the lights again before proceeding with this step.

Instructions:
  1. Go in the WLED App > Config > WiFi Setup
  2. Scroll down a bit and find the "Client IP" and write it down somewhere.
  3. Go into your router settings
  4. Search for a setting that mentions something like DHCP reservation. It might be under any advanced settings. It may take some searching to find.
  5. Find the device you want to set the reservation for. It will probably have wled in the name. If you can't find it from the name, look at the IP addresses of the devices listed until you find one that matches what you wrote down from WLED.
  6. Reserve the same IP address as the one listed in WLED's WiFi settings.
For more specific instructions, search online for "[Your router's brand and model] IP reservation". Most companies will have clear step-by-step instructions on how to set up an IP reservation.
