Last light before or after a jump stays on even when turned off

If you made a jump or branch and a single LED is staying on even though you have turned off the lights in the WLED app, it's most likely because the red and green wires touched together with the power on. This most often happens when wires are cut with the controller box plugged in. This kills the data output of the LED, so the LED still works but it doesn't pass on the signal.

To fix this, you will need to replace the last working LED (the one right before the LED that is staying on):
  1. Unplug your controller box before cutting anything.
  2. Cut out the last LED that is working correctly. Cut close to the LED so you have plenty of wire to work with.
  3. Splice in a new LED, verifying that it is facing the correct direction. The LEDs have an input and an output side (see pictures below).
  4. Plug your box back in and turn on the lights. If it still doesn't work, verify that your splices are good. If that still didn't do the trick, send us an email at support@shawtechlighting.com
