Single LED Stays On After Turning Off the Lights
If a single LED remains lit even after you’ve turned off the lights in the WLED app, it’s likely due to the red and green wires touching while the controller box was powered on. This often occurs if wires are cut while the box is still plugged in. When this happens, the data output of the last working LED is damaged. The LED will still light up but won't pass on the signal.
How to Fix This Issue
Unplug the Controller Box
- Always unplug your controller box before working on any wiring.
Replace the Last Working LED
- Identify the last LED that is functioning correctly (just before the LED that stays on).
- Cut out the last working LED, leaving plenty of wire on both ends for splicing.
Splice in a New LED
- Use a replacement LED, ensuring it is oriented correctly. LEDs have an input and output side (see reference images).
- Make secure connections for all wires.
Reconnect and Test
- Plug the controller box back in and turn on the lights.
- If the issue persists, double-check your splices for secure connections.
