How to Connect Your Controller to Wi-Fi After Changing Routers or Internet Providers

If you’ve changed your router or internet provider, your ShawLED controller needs to be reconnected to your new Wi-Fi network. Follow these steps carefully to ensure a successful setup.

Step 1: Power On the Controller

  1. Plug in the controller and wait for it to boot up.
  2. The controller should broadcast a Wi-Fi network called WLED-AP. This may take a few minutes to appear.

Step 2: Connect to WLED-AP

  1. Open your device’s Wi-Fi settings.

  2. Look for a network named WLED-AP and connect to it (password: wled1234).

    • Important: You must connect to WLED-AP first. Do not try to find or access the controller through the WLED app at this stage.
  3. Once connected, a WLED welcome screen should automatically appear.

    • If the screen doesn’t appear, open a browser on your device and type 4.3.2.1 into the address bar.

Step 3: Configure Wi-Fi Settings

  1. On the WLED welcome screen, go to the Wi-Fi Settings section.
  2. Enter your new Wi-Fi Name (SSID) and Password exactly as they appear.
    • Double-check for typos, extra spaces, or capitalization errors.
  3. Save the settings.

The controller will now attempt to connect to your new Wi-Fi network. Once connected, it will no longer broadcast WLED-AP.


Step 4: Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues and the controller does not connect:

  1. Return to the troubleshooting article:

  2. Follow the steps outlined to resolve common connection problems.



By following these steps, your controller should connect to your new router or Wi-Fi network without any issues. Remember: Always connect to WLED-AP first before trying to find the controller in the WLED app.
