1. Weak Data Signal
Flickering is commonly caused by a weak data signal, often due to large jumps between sections of lights or long runs of LEDs.
Key Points to Consider:
- Large Jumps: Jumps over 20 feet can cause flickering, especially if they are in the middle of the LED run.
- From the Controller Box: Jumps directly from the controller box can typically be up to 30 feet without issues.
- Towards the End of the Run: Even shorter jumps may cause flickering if they occur near the end of the LED run, where the signal is weaker.
Solution:
- If your kit includes a data booster, install it midway through the jump:
- Unplug your controller box before working on the wiring.
- Cut the data cable near the midpoint of the jump.
- Splice in the data booster (refer to your kit instructions for wiring details).

2. Lack of Power
3. Poor Connection
- Loose or faulty connections, particularly involving the green data wire, can disrupt the signal and cause flickering.
- Solution:
- Unplug your controller box to avoid electrical issues.
- Inspect all connections, especially those involving the green data wire.
- Re-secure or re-do any connections that appear loose, damaged, or faulty.
